Deanna Smith

Deanna Marie Smith, 52, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 17, 2019 in Fort Worth.

Rosary: 6:00 p.m., Monday, December 9, 2019 at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook, Texas 76126. Her memorial service will then begin at 7:00 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. John Williams, officiating.

Deanna was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Dennis Lee Smith and Carolyn Jean Smith (Hahm) on November 5, 1967. She went to St. Matthias Grade School and then Hamilton High School in Milwaukee. Deanna went on to attend Alverno College. She was a swimmer, she loved volleyball and coached girls volleyball at St Matthias grade school. Deanna sang in the choir at St. Matthias and was also a youth leader with the church.

Deanna was always family minded and managed her father's hair salon, Rogues Gallery for many years, then a change to working in the child care industry at We Be Kids, looking after two year olds. This was of course great training for the next chapter of her life, the wonderful world of folk and Celtic music.

Deanna married Craig Scotland on March 12, 2003 in Oconomowoc, Wisc. Together they created a photography business, selling their art at fairs and festivals throughout the US. She was the lead singer for the popular Celtic group, Jiggernaut, and has been part of the Texas music scene for almost 20 years.

Deanna is preceded in death by her father, Dennis Lee Smith.

Survivors: Deanna is survived by her husband, Craig Scotland; her brother, Brandon Smith (Jessica Kapsos); her mother, Carolyn Smith; and her nephews, Tristan Kapsos and Weston Lee Smith; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, family members and friends.
