Van Edith Kendrick Cox, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 8, 2017.
Requiem Mass: at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 17, at St. Peter Antiochian Orthodox Church, 7601 Bellaire Drive S., Fort Worth 76132. Interment: 1:30 p.m., Monday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Fort Worth Botanical Society, St. Peter's Classical School, or St. Peter Antiochian Orthodox Church.
Van was born Dec. 16, 1931 in Lake Wales, Fla. to John Kendrick and Julia Phillips Kendrick. In 1952 she married Homer L. Cox, Jr., and they remained married until his passing in 2014. Van was a past president of Lake Worth Garden Club , a member of Avant Gardeners, active in district and state level garden club activities, member and past president of the Fort Worth Botanical Society, past president of Tarrant County Aggie Moms, and belonged to many other charitable groups in Fort Worth. She was a founding member of St. Peter Antiochian Orthodox Church and volunteered at Fort Worth Botanic Garden/Japanese Garden for over 50 years.
Van was predeceased by her parents, husband, Homer Lee Cox, Jr., sisters, Margaret Cornelius and Joanne Lord, and brother, Thomas Kendrick.
Survivors: Daughter, Martha of Dallas; son, Peter (Lee) of Benbrook; sister, Betty Manzo of Jackson, NJ; brother, Edward Kendrick of Perkins, Okla.; and many nieces and nephews.
