Shirley Ann (Buseman) Whitworth, 89, of Benbrook, Texas passed away on January 2, 2023.
Shirley was born the youngest of eight children to Bert and Florence Adeline (White) Buseman March 24, 1933, on the family farm near Monroe, South Dakota. While attending the Spring Valley country school, she worked on the family farm and attended the Spring Valley Baptist Church with her family while growing up. In her early 20’s, she moved to Texas where she helped her sister, Arlene, with her two young children, and worked at Ridglea Bank in Fort Worth. Shortly after, she met her husband, Melton Culver, and they married on March 23, 1957, at Morningside Baptist Church in Fort Worth. They lived in an apartment until they moved into their forever home that same year in Benbrook. She left her work to become a homemaker and raise three sons. She kept an immaculately clean home, and a well-manicured lawn! She also planned and enjoyed family vacations, mostly visiting extended family up north. She practiced her faith, volunteered many years, and raised her boys in the First Baptist Church of Benbrook. She was a wonderful mother who was very involved in her community of friends and neighbors, while providing a loving home for her husband and boys. She made sit-down family dinners an important priority for the family. She also made Christmas and Easter gatherings very special occasions for the family, especially for the grandkids! She always enjoyed her get-togethers with the ladies at the local beauty shop, as well as antique and estate sale shopping.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Melton in August of 2007; her three brothers, Harold Russell (died at the age of one year old), Lloyd, and Arvid; and four sisters, Lucille, Evelyn, Bernice, and Arlene.
SURVIVORS: Shirley is survived by her three sons, Bryan and wife, Kim, Randall and wife, Tish, and Jason and wife, Nancy; as well as two grandchildren, Cooper and Pierce.
