Robert “Bob” R. Plummer Jr., 88, passed away December 5, 2022.
Bob was born October 7, 1934, in Galveston, Texas (He was a BOI) to Robert R. Plummer Sr., and Vivian Hewett Plummer. He attended Galveston public school and was a 1952 graduate of Ball High School. Bob was a lifelong Methodist and as a teen, an active DeMolay in Galveston and the State of Texas. After high school he went to work at J.C. Penney Co. and was transferred to Durango, Colorado.
He married his high school sweetheart, Norita Grant, in 1957. They were married 48 years, before her death. Bob was a Master Mason since 1956. In the Winter of 1958, they were transferred to Santa Fe, New Mexico and lived there 47 years. He enjoyed fishing and hiking in the mountains of Northern New Mexico. They moved to Benbrook in 2004 to be near their daughter and granddaughter. Bob and Norita were very active in the Saint John’s Methodist Church for 45 + years. Norita died 14 months after their move to Benbrook.
The second love of his life, Pat Gurley, entered his life and they spent several happy and loving years, traveling, dancing, and living a wonderful life together.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Robert R., and Vivian Plummer, and brother, Thomas Hewett Plummer.
Survivors: Daughter, Beth Gaines and husband, Jim of Benbrook; son, John R. Plummer of New Mexico; granddaughter, Rebecca Carnes of Benbrook; and companion, Patsy D. Gurley of Fort Worth.
Memorial services: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 10, 2022, in the Chapel at University Christian Church, 2720 University Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76109.
