Born on May 23, 1931, in Newark, Ark., Robert was a star basketball player setting school records at Newark High School before serving 23 years in the Air Force from 1951 to 1974, enlisting during the Korean War. On August 16, 1952, Robert married his high school sweetheart, Edna Louise Wilson in Newark. They raised two daughters, Teresa "Terry" Louise and Robin Anita around the world during his military service before settling in Texas.
A grand and extraordinary man, Robert was a patriarch figure for his brothers and sisters at an early age after his father passed, and continued to be one all the way down to his great-grandchildren. He was always active with bowling, attending church, working out at the local YMCA, and running his business until he was 87. Robert was most happy spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he would always welcome you with his infectious smile.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Neil and Violet Porter Pipkins; wife, Edna; son, Robert; brothers, T.M., Neil and Fred; and sisters, Mabel and Lee.
Survivors: He is celebrated and survived by his daughters, Terry and husband, Rick Baker, and Robin and husband, D.J. Moore; grandchildren, Jacqi, Maranda, Taylor, Morgan and Jay; great-grandchildren, Rylie, Emmy, Camden, Lily, Callie, Callum, Gentrie and Caroline; sister, Shirley Fuller; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
