Rita Elrod

Rita Sue Sapp Elrod, 75, of Benbrook, Texas, left us on November 17, 2021 to live in eternal peace with her Lord and Savior in Heaven.

Rita was born June 23, 1946 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was known for her beautiful smile and friendly nature. She truly never met a stranger and loved talking with everyone she met.

Rita enjoyed shopping, watching Hallmark movies, and "helping" Steve Harvey with Family Feud. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and keeping up with new and lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Reece and Vertie Ray Sapp, and son-in-law, Daniel Benedetti.

Rita is survived by daughter, Lauren Benedetti; grandson, Darren Gary and his wife, Liz and soon to arrive great-grandchild, Baby G.; grandson, Dalen Gary and his girlfriend, Danielle Harper; daughter, Julie Atcheson and her husband, Scotty; and granddaughter, Makayla. She also had many extended family members; in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, and too many friends to count.

Rita had such a loving heart and will be missed greatly by all who knew her.

Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook, Texas 76126. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the memorial service at noon, 12:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
