Richard Lan Wilkes III "Trey", 71, passed from this earth March 16, 2021 after a long battle with kidney disease.
Celebration of Life: 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 6th in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church (FUMC), 800 West 5th Street, Fort Worth Texas 76102, where Trey was a member. FUMC follows the direction of local public health experts for Covid 19 safety protocols including that face masks be worn by all people on that campus.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers it was Trey’s wish that donations be made to First Street Mission, 801 West First Street, Fort Worth Texas, 76102.
Trey was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on May 21, 1949 and grew up in Fort Worth Texas. He was a graduate of Arlington Heights High School and Texas Wesleyan College. Trey was an Eagle Scout.
He worked as a Senior Account Agent with Allstate Insurance Company for 22 years. After leaving that position, he returned to college where he obtained both his MBA and his PHd and took a position with the Gallagher Finance Group. Trey eventually retired and spent his last years as a volunteer for the First Street Mission and exploring South America. He had a special fondness for the country of Costa Rica and spent many happy times there with his best friend Sonia Martin Quintana of Madrid, Spain. His dream was to someday live in Costa Rica, but unfortunately kidney disease took his life before that dream could come to pass.
Trey is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Lan Wilkes Jr. and Betty Holcomb Wilkes Walters.
He is survived by his two daughters, Wendy Lea Wilkes of Frisco and Camille Wilkes Amidel of Trophy Club; and cousins, Becky Phillips of Cleburne Texas and Joan Wilkes Puckett of Atlanta Georgia.
