Retired Major Robert Cleo Tarver, 86, passed away February 17, 2018.
Funeral service: 12:00 p.m., Monday, Feb. 26, 2018 at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook, Texas 76126. Visitation: 2-4:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. Burial: 2:30 p.m., Monday at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy., Dallas, TX 75211.
Robert was born Feb. 28, 1931 to Buford and Cynthia Tarver. Robert lived in Benbrook 48 years. He was married to Darlene E. (Mallory) Tarver for 56 years until her death in 2006. Robert completed a 2 year college degree while in the military. He retired after 23 years as a senior Air Force combat pilot and he earned numerous medals during his career including 12 Air medals and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He served in many countries and flew various fighter jets. He loved his wife, his family, and being a fighter pilot.
Robert is preceded in death by his father; step-father, Oliver Baker; mother; son-in-law, Robert Threlkeld; and brothers-in-law, George William "Billy" Wine and George William "Bill" Yurgaitis.
Survivors: Sisters, Juanita Yurgaitis and Charlotte (Emil) Svelis; loving daughters, Nancy (Eugene) Masse of New Rockford, ND, Linda Threlkeld of Fort Worth, and Carol (Curtis) Tedford of Arlington; grandchildren, Sgt. 1st Class retired, Michael W. (Dianne) Masse of Grovetown, Ga., Michelle (Steve) Ontis of Bismarck, ND, Kelley (Easton) McDowell of Arlington, Casey (Amber) Threlkeld of Springtown, Clarissa Tedford of Arlington, and Chris (Stevie) Tedford of Arlington; and great-grandchildren, Austin, Aunika, Jake, Holly, Ben, Madison, Jada, Israel, Tiffany, and Alayna.
