Norma Lurene Bird Anderson was born in 1926 in Thorp Springs, Texas, the second daughter of Steve Bird and Bessie Mae Bird, and died July 11, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas. She married David “Andy” Anderson in 1949, who predeceased her in 2013. Their marriage lasted 64 years. They had one child, Karen Anderson Dohoney (Patrick), and three grandchildren, grandsons Ryan Anderson Duncan and Blake Marshal Duncan, and granddaughter Hillary Dohoney.

 

Norma graduated from Granbury High School as Valedictorian in 1944, and Texas Woman’s University in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, Magna Cum Laude, and later completed her Masters of Education at Texas Woman’s University. She taught in public school for twenty years, starting with 4th Grade at Castleberry Elementary and later taught English, Science, and Social Studies at Irma Marsh Middle School.

 

Norma was active in the Senior Citizens Bible Study and Sunday School Class at Western Hills Baptist Church. Norma loved reading, traveling, playing cards with her friends, and most of all spoiling her grandchildren.
