Mildred was born Dec. 16, 1930 in Hico to Rex and Jewell Ellis, and she married her high school sweetheart, James Rainwater, on Aug. 22, 1948. She and James were blessed with five daughters, nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren and called Benbrook their home for nearly 60 years. A neighbor commented that the house across the street from the water tower will always be the “Rainwater” home.
Mildred struggled with Dementia and a broken hip during the last 7 months. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the Keller Oaks Rehabilitation Center in Keller for their compassion, professionalism and support.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; brother, Billy Ellis and his wife, Patsy; sister, Margaret Tressler and her husband, Willard; sister-in-law, Elva Jo "Judy" Funk and her husband, Bill; and one nephew, Dennis Tressler.
Survivors: Daughters, Janie Jackson and husband, Ronnie; Jo Green and husband, Lanny; Jean Rainwater; Dina June Emmerling and husband, Greg, and Joy Smith and husband, Matt; grandchildren, Keith, Lauri, Lisa, Lindsay Brooke, Kristen, Jeff, Kevin and Paul; great-grandchildren, Izzy, Jase, Shelby, Ellis, Dillon, Savannah, Zoe, Sophie, James, and baby Ryan; two brothers, Ralph Ellis, Neil Ellis; two sisters, Reggie Needham and Peggy O’Neal; and many loving nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
