May Beauchamp Massie

September 10, 1950 — April 13, 2024

White Settlement

On April 13, 2024, May Beauchamp Massie, 73, shuffled off this mortal coil to wreak havoc in parts unknown.

May was born September 10, 1950, at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington to Edward and Pauline Beauchamp. As a proud army brat, she lived all over the country until her family moved to and stayed in White Settlement, Texas.

Not too long after graduating high school, May met and married the love of her life, Coy. They had countless adventures, gathering stories, new friends, and usually pies along the way. Among May's favorite places to visit were Ruidoso, New Mexico, the national parks, and presidential libraries. She especially loved road tripping through the Hill Country in the spring to see the bluebonnets. She loved going anywhere she could witness God's majesty.

May worked at the Dallas VA Medical Center for 25 years, working her way up the secretarial staff. She kept photos of soldiers she'd never met on her desk to remind her of her mission and felt a deep honor and commitment to helping those who served this country.

When at home, May loved sitting with a tea and the latest mystery novel, listening to music - especially classic rock, jazz, or her daughter's flute practice, crocheting while watching cozy British murder shows or dry British comedies, gardening, and trying new recipes - especially if they included items from her garden or the farmer's market.

May was abundantly generous of heart, spirit, and knowledge. And while she was almost always quite proper and ladylike, she secretly had the most deliciously vicious wit revealed only to those closest to her.

She will be endlessly missed.

May is survived by her husband of 53 years, Coy; daughter, Melinda; and a whole host of family and friends.
