BENBROOK -- Mary Wheat, 64, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, in Fort Worth.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook.

Mary Chalk Wheat was born Feb. 13, 1952, in Lubbock, the daughter of the late John and Callie Martin Chalk. She attended Texas Tech University, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. Mary married Curtis Wheat on Oct. 25, 1975, and they reared two daughters, Amanda and Mary Anne. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, and watching old movies. She was also involved with the Junior Woman's Club and the Junior League of Fort Worth.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors: Husband of 41 years, Curtis Wheat; daughters, Amanda Wheat and husband, Kevin Salmon, of Houston and Mary Anne Brown and husband, Evan, of Murphy; grandchildren, Andrew Salmon of Houston and Elodi Brown of Murphy; brother, Rutley Chalk and wife, Robin, of Windham, Maine; sister, Ann Johnston and husband, Dr. Bud Johnston, of Lubbock; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving friends.
