Chief Master Sergeant (Retired) Marvin Lee Doyel, 88, passed away May 12, 2021 in Bedford.

Memorial Service:  2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 22, 2021 at The Church at Benbrook, 930 Winscott Road, Benbrook 76126.  Visitation: 5-7:00 p.m., Friday, May 21st at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott, Benbrook.  His final resting place service with full military honors will be scheduled at DFW National Cemetery later.

Marvin Lee Doyel was born on March 25th, 1933 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  One of ten siblings and four half-siblings, he started working at an early age to help support his large family.  He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1951 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.   He married his high school sweetheart, Shirlene, on her 17th birthday in 1952.  They remained married for 67 years until her passing in 2020.

During his tenure in the USAF he served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.  He started out as a B29 gunner and later as a Boom operator (in-flight refueling).  He served as a part of the Strategic Air Command (SAC) on numerous different USAF bases, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross in 1973.  He retired to Benbrook in 1978.

He began a second career at General Dynamics, later Lockheed-Martin, Fort Worth, Texas working on the F-16 Fighting Falcon and F-22 Raptor fighter aircraft assembly-line.  After his retirement in 1997, he increased his participation in his beloved bowling leagues.  After the age of 65, he rolled several perfect 300 games and received many league accolades.  He was a devout Christian, serving his last years as a greeter and usher at The Church at Benbrook.

He was preceded in death by ten siblings and his beloved wife, Shirlene.

Survivors:  Children, Michael Doyel of Bedford, Texas, and Vicki White of Oxford, Miss.; sister, Juanita Frazer of Rochester, New York; brother, Robert Doyel of Winter Haven, Florida; and half-sister, Malinda Carney of Banning, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Lynda Doyel; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
