BENBROOK --
Marjory Bluhm Matthews, 95, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 24, 2016.
Funeral:
11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook. Interment: Friday in Chillicothe City Cemetery, Chillicothe, Ill. Visitation: One hour prior to service time.
Marjory attended Lindenwood College, and when World War II broke out, she joined the U.S. Navy as a WAVE. She served at Pearl Harbor and other locations. After the war, she married John R. Matthews and they lived in Illinois, California, and Arizona before settling in Texas in 1960. She was an artist who also taught art classes and later became passionate about quilting.
Marjory was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, John R. Matthews.
Survivors:
She is survived by her daughters, Debby Farr and husband, James, Pam Habeeb and husband, Bob, and Vicki Smith; grandson, Jason Golden; granddaughter, Kimberly Pollard; grandchildren by marriage, Andrea Spradlin, Terri Porterfield, Kelly Ennis, Candice Johnson and Laura Newsom; great-grandchildren, Amber, Craig, Courtney, Justin, Chelsea, Haleigh, Nolan and Finn; niece, Janis Ordaz; and many friends.
