Marie was born on May 30, 1939 in Bronx, New York. Marie married the love of her life, Ronnie, in 1962, and together they shared their lives, hopes and dreams for 58 years. Marie was devoted to being a loving wife and homemaker and to raising her children. When her children reached adulthood, she started a long career in sales. In her early career, Marie may have helped you open an account at Bank of America, or helped you select your favorite outfit at Stripling and Cox, or your favorite album or movie at Highland Electronics, or more recently, your favorite perfume or cologne at Dillard’s or Neiman Marcus. After retiring from sales, Marie nurtured her grandchildren and supported her husband’s involvement in city government.
Marie enjoyed frequently cruising the Caribbean with Ron, as well as annual family cruises. Marie relished relaxing by the deck pool and reading a book and enjoyed testing her luck in the casinos hoping to “hit the big one”.
Marie’s greatest joys were having fun, dancing, being with her family, whether in Texas, New York, or California, attending her grandson’s graduation from United States Air Force Basic Military Training, watching her granddaughter dance in competitions, and being the best Nana.
Marie was preceded in death by loving and devoted husband, Ronald Joseph Sauma.
Survivors: Daughter, Donna Sauma (Brian) Hayden; son, George Sauma; grandchildren, Anthony Sauma and Madelyn Hayden; sister-in-law, Darlene Kalil; and loving cousins.
