Letha Willis

August 29, 1926 — November 30, 2016

Letha Jean Willis passed away at her home on Nov. 30, 2016 at the age of 90.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook. A private burial will take place later.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Humane Society, Meals on Wheels, or the charity of your choice.
Letha was born in Aug. 29, 1926 in Oklahoma City, Okla. She resided in Fort Worth where she worked as a bookkeeper with Owen Mills School Division until she retired, having made friends that remained close for the rest of her life.
After retiring, Letha moved into the Palm House where she met the love of her life, Jim Owen with whom she shared her heart until his passing. Jim's daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Marvin, helped strengthen her through her grief.
Letha was unfailingly sharp, organized and thoughtful, never missing the occasion to send a card or make a call on an important day. As Dallas Cowboys biggest fan, she and her son, Gary would stay on the phone during games, commenting on every play.
As her vision grew dim, she began to receive Meals on Wheels and met Cindy Watson. Cindy, her husband, Rick and their two daughters developed a friendship which grew into a bond as close as family. They enriched her life with adventurous outings, visits, and pulled off a spectacular surprise 90th birthday party. She truly loved them and they her, calling her grandma.
Special thanks to the Watson family and Christina with Envoy Hospice for all you did to make this transition as gentle as possible.
Letha was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lillian Tyson, son, Randy J. Willis, her beloved Jim Owen, and her little pup, Lacey.
Letha, we love you, we'll see you in Heaven.
Survivors: Son, Gary L. Willis and his wife, Betsy of Houston; grandsons, Cody and Dustin Willis of Austin; and her great grandchildren, Hartley and Savannah Willis, also of Austin.
