It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Leonard Lee Shearman, devoted husband, father, brother, friend, and “Papa” of Benbrook, Texas, who gained his wings on July 11, 2024, at the age of 68. Surrounded by his loving family in his final moments, he was a man of immense humor and was witty, very reliable, and trustworthy, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones.
Leonard was born in Fort Worth, Texas on September 4, 1955 to Sam and Irene Shearman as the oldest of their three children. Leonard started working in the concrete business at the age of 16 where he spent several years pouring concrete all around the DFW metroplex. In the early 90's he joined the City of Fort Worth where he worked until his retirement in 2018. Leonard never met a stranger and made many lifelong friends along the way.
Leonard was so proud of his kids and grandkids. His family and friends will hold dear the stories we will be privileged to continue to tell.
He loved his family and would make a point to tell them that he loved and appreciated them as often as possible, sometimes with a hug, sometimes with a call or text and most definitely with his nickname that was given to you by him.
Leonard has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. A private family celebration of life will be held per his wishes.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Kathy Shearman of Benbrook; daughter and son-in law, Stacy and Phillip West of Springfield, TN; son and partner, Sam Shearman and Doug Talley of Aubrey, Texas; son and daughter in law, Tim and Amanda Shearman of Azle, Texas; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; brother and sister in law, Danny and Leslie Shearman of Dennis, Texas; sister Cathy Shearman of Dennis, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
