Kathy was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on December 27, 1950 and was blessed to be nurtured by her parents, Mildred and Durwood Apple, on a beautiful farm near Reidsville, North Carolina. Growing up with three brothers left Kathy with an abundance of “spunk” which enriched her many friendships, especially with her “better than sisters” cousins and and ultimately with her husband, Ken, and her children, Anna and Josh (and now their spouses and children.) Kathy taught third graders prior to marriage and then for over twenty years as she partnered with Ken at McKinney Church. Encouraging women (especially about parenting challenges and blessings) and launching spiritual multipliers because of her gratitude for Christ, filled her with joy.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Eric Horton.
Kathy was survived by her husband, Ken Horton; daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Brad McDaniel; son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Catherine Horton; granddaughter, Avery McDaniel; grandsons, Reid McDaniel, Jacob Horton and Samuel Horton; brothers, Ike Apple and wife, Gayle, Mike Apple and wife, Margaret, and Tommy Apple and wife, Pat; sisters-in-law, Jan Beard and Jennie Horton Otstot; brother-in-law, Ron Horton and wife, Terri; and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
