Juanita E. Smith, 92, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, surrounded by family in Fort Worth.
Service:
The family will celebrate Juanita's life with a private memorial service at a later date.
Juanita E. Lathrop Smith was born Aug. 4, 1923, in Wichita Falls. She grew up in the Great Depression, the youngest of ten children. Juanita and Walter H. Smith were married from 1938 to 1946 and together they had three children. Always an independent woman, she lived alone until her 91st year. She loved and valued her family above all else.
Juanita was preceded in death by a son, Walter Weldon Smith; her parents, Samuel James Lathrop and Ethel Viola Dean Lathrop; and her nine siblings.
Survivors:
Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Glenda Smith Cox and her husband, C.C. Cox; son, Louis W. Smith; daughter-in-law, Joyce Smith; grandchildren, April Bunn and husband, David, Elizabeth R. Kell and partner, Alicia Taylor, Matthew M. Smith, Mark L. Smith, Travis Cox, Autumn Barkley, Dianne Noe, Terry, Rhonda, and Glenn Smith; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; special friends, George and Lorraine Peel; and many nieces and nephews.
