Joseph Patrick Davis

September 25, 1957 — April 16, 2024

Aledo

Joseph Patrick (Pat) Davis, 66, passed away on April 16, 2024, at his home in Aledo, Texas after a two-year battle with cancer.

Pat was born at Eglin Air Force Base in Valparaiso, Florida on September 25, 1957, to L.E. Holland Davis and John James (Jim) Davis. Soon after, his father was transferred to Carswell AFB in Fort Worth.  Pat graduated from Brewer High School in White Settlement in 1976 where he was very active in athletics, excelling in football, baseball, and track.  Following graduation, he attended Weatherford College where he studied Farm and Ranch Management.

Pat married his High School Sweetheart, Shelley Perkins, in 1978. They moved to Aledo in 1980 and were married for 45 years, raising two children, Nathan, and Andrea.

Pat was a man of many talents. He owned and operated his own concrete business for several years, sold health and life Insurance for Farm and Ranch Healthcare, had his own home remodeling business, worked in the oil and gas industry for Cameron and Schlumberger and then became a site manager and foreman for a local construction company building convenience stores.

Pat had a deep love and appreciation for the outdoors since childhood. He enjoyed hunting and fishing--especially duck hunting and bass fishing, and later in life he became an avid fly fisherman. He enjoyed all his outdoor pursuits with his son, friends, and family. Pat was always willing to share his interests with others and made so many memories in the outdoors with so many people.

Pat was passionate about music, particularly bluegrass.  He was self-taught and played entirely by ear, but brilliantly learned to play the banjo, mandolin, guitar, and bass.  He played and sang in different bluegrass bands, was always playing music with friends on the weekend, and there was never a family gathering where he was found without his guitar in hand, singing and making up songs to make everyone laugh.

Above all else, he was a friend to all. Pat never met a stranger and never knew anyone he wasn’t willing to help. He embodied what it meant to have a servant’s heart, always willing to help friends or family with projects as there was never anything he couldn’t do or fix. He used his skill and humor to help others always putting them before himself. Most importantly, he was a strong man of deep faith. He lived his faith daily by the way he loved and served those around him, and he boldly shared his faith with others leading many to Christ along the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and L.E. Davis, and his infant son, Joshua Caleb Davis.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Shelley Davis; son, Nathan Davis, and wife Julie; daughter, Andrea Knott, and husband Chris; grandchildren, Ellie Davis, and Leighton and Lawson Knott; mother-in-law, Kathryn Sloan; sister, Cathy Podell and husband, Mark; nieces, Stacia Short and husband, Ron, Mindi Orth and husband, Jeff, and Nikki Marquardt-Demen and husband, Roe; nephew, Tyler Marquardt; and countless friends.
