On March 22, 2023 John Boyd Stanley (also known as JB), went home peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior after a long battle with Cancer.
John Boyd Stanley, was born on December 3, 1936 to Walter Lee Stanley and Nancy Ellen Griffin (Stanley) in McAdoo, Texas. The family along with three brothers, Travis, Doyle, and Donald Lee were raised in Liberator Village, which is now known as White Settlement. Knowing the mischievousness of the brothers, they kept the family either laughing or getting the boys out of trouble. JB was preceded by both parents, Walter, and Nancy Stanley, and all three brothers, Travis, Doyle and Donald Lee.
JB graduated from Brewer High School but not before enlisting into the Air Force at the age of 17. He said watching the fighter jets fly over his home influenced him into enlisting. JB went on to serve his country proudly in the Air Force as a fighter jet mechanic, photo interpreter and drill sergeant. He traveled the world during his 26 years in the Air Force, most notably serving in the Vietnam War as an Intelligence Photo Interpreter.
When in the Air Force stationed at Alexandria, La., he met Marilyn Hines and went on to marry her. They had two children, John Boyd Stanley Jr. and a daughter Linda Stanley Foster. They were married 30 years.
JB was proud of his service to the country but rarely spoke of it until later years. He retired from Carswell Air Force Base after 26 years of service and began a new career at Lockheed Martin as a technical writer and wrote the diagnostic manuals for the F-16 fighter jet which is still used today. During his retirement he received his EMS license and started the EMT program at Pecan Plantation in Granbury, TX. JB went back to college while still working and earned his air conditioner and refrigeration repair certificate. He loved working on air conditioners and refrigerators for people and seldom asked for payment.
JB reunited with his childhood friend in 2007; Mary Ann Morrison. They were married and she provided not only her love and companionship but a large family who all dearly loved him. Shortly after marrying Mary Ann, JB accepted Christ as his savior, an answered prayer.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Stanley, son John Boyd Stanley Jr and his wife Debbie; daughter Linda Foster and husband Bill.
