Jim was born Feb. 27, 1937 to Dollie Dowell and Robert Martin, and raised on a rocky, cedar, rattlesnake infested farm southeast of Chalk Mountain, Somervell County. He graduated from Glen Rose High School and attended TCU and TWC where he met his beloved wife, Ella Louise Smith, with whom he has spent 59 years. Jim was employed for 42 years in a number of positions with Stratoflex, Inc. (now Parker Hannifin Corp.). He loved Fort Worth, but he loved his birthplace and Somervell County more and continued to spend his free time working on his farm until his health prevented it. He and Ella liked to travel and for two country kids who never got out of Texas until their marriage, they lived for a time in Los Angeles, Calif., and eventually visited Canada, Mexico, and the United Kingdom several times.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, R.D. Martin of Stephenville.
Survivors: Jim is survived by his wife; sons, Bryan Alan Martin (Grisel) of Fort Worth, and Jeffrey Scott Martin of California; grandsons, Blake Allen Martin (Courtnee) of Wichita, Kan., and Brandon Scott Martin (Tanisha) of Fort Worth; great-grandson, Greyson Robert Martin of Wichita, Kan.; and other relatives and friends.
