Jess Harwell Iii

Jess A. Harwell III, 73, of Fort Worth, passed away on May 29, 2018 at his home after a three-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Celebration of Life: 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook, 76126. A private interment will occur at The Church of the Holy Apostles.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and The First Tee of Fort Worth.
Jess was born August 30, 1944 in Fort Worth to Jess Harwell and Jo Lee (Starns) Harwell, Jr. He graduated high school from Sewanee Military Academy in 1963. He attended the University of the South and Texas Christian University before graduating from the Southwestern Graduate Institute of Banking at Southern Methodist University. Jess began his banking career at Continental National Bank and joined Summit National Bank when it first opened. He was a bank officer at Alta Mesa National Bank and broker at Countrywide Financial prior to retirement. Jess was an avid reader and golf enthusiast. He enjoyed volunteering at Pecan Valley Golf Course as a marshal and was delighted that he made a hole-in-one on his favorite course.
Jess was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Candy.

Survivors: Jess is survived by his two daughters, Stacey Cornils (Scott) of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Valerie Myers (Shane) of Littleton, Colo.; two step-sons, Kevin Holmes (Mary Alice) of Inman, S.C., and Brian Shattuck of Bethel, Mo.; and three grandchildren, Claire Cornils, Walker Myers, and Will Holmes.
