James Allen Ellis, 76, of Benbrook, Texas, went to be with his Lord on April 6, 2022.
James was born in Abilene, Texas, May 1, 1945. He joined the U.S. Army in 1966 and served for 21 years retiring in 1987. He then began working for the Federal Civil Service and retired in 2006. James was an active member of Trinity Hills Baptist Church in Benbrook serving as a deacon and supporting a variety of mission activities. He was a member of Builders for Christ, helping to build churches and repair church campgrounds. He was also a member of the Benbrook Citizens on Patrol. James loved to fish and enjoyed woodworking and frequently reorganizing his workshop. He was also a licensed auctioneer and a collector of vintage “merchandise”.
James is preceded in death by his parents, James Curtis Ellis, and Syble Sue Seals Ellis, of Comanche, Texas.
James is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Odessa Simpson Ellis; two children, William Daniel Ellis and wife, Bonnie Jean; and Bonnie Christine James and husband, Steve; eight grandchildren, Maggie, Autumn, Jason, and Alex James; and Dylan, Myra, Evie, and Piper Ellis; a brother, Kenneth Ellis; and two sisters, Brenda Gavin, and Glenda Ellis.
A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Hills Baptist Church, 6970 Ranch to Market Rd 2871, Benbrook, Texas 76126 on Friday, May 6, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. with burial in Concord Cemetery in the Soda Springs Community in Comanche County, Texas.
Memorials: The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Trinity Hills Baptist Church Missions Ministry.
