Harley Frank McGar, 93, of Fort Worth, Texas left this earth on January 15, 2022, to be with our great Lord above.
Harley was born April 18, 1928, in Denton, Texas to Henry Elbert McGar and Mary Letha Short McGar. He was known for being a hard worker and starting his first job at the age of 12 with a newspaper route. He also helped build his father’s car wash business and worked for him as well.
Harley met the love of his life at the age of 18 and married Bettey Ruth Kelley in 1947. Starting his new life with Bettey, he continued to build and opened his own cabinet shop, for he loved to build and work with wood. After retiring from his cabinet shop business of 40+ years he continued working for Power Flite until one day before his passing. Harley was also an inventor of many things that only he knew how to operate.
Harley and Bettey were married May 1, 1947 and have been married for 75 years. They started their family shortly after being married, having their daughter, Linda, and son, Kenneth. Harley enjoyed going dancing with Bettey on the weekends after hard days of work, as he loved to twist.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jerri Martin, and Beverly Renshaw; and brothers, Bill, and Bob McGar.
Survivors: He is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Bettey; daughter, Linda Williams; son, Kenneth McGar; granddaughter, Stayce Tindell and husband, Mat; grandson, Terry McConathy, and wife, Laniecea; and his great-grandson, Zyles McConathy. He also had many extended family members, cousins, many friends, and his cat, Tommy.
Harley had such a loving and caring heart and will be deeply missed by all.
