Harlene Walls Arter, age 86, of Granbury, Texas, formerly of Kennedale, Texas, passed away peacefully December 8, 2024. Harlene was born May 28, 1938, the daughter of Harold and Bonnie (Simmons) Walls in Roff, Oklahoma. At the age of 21, on Sept 6, 1959, she married Verlin Arter and together they lovingly traversed life together until Verlin’s death on April 14, 2007.
In 1978 Harlene and Verlin started and co-owned their family business, Southern Screen Printing, in Kennedale, Texas. Harlene worked there as Vice President/Office Manager until 1997, when they sold the business.
She was a proud alumna of Roff High School where she played basketball. Much later in 2016, her Roff Tiger’s entire team was inducted into the RHS Hall of Fame for being the first team to ever go to state from Roff. Basketball has brought her joy, satisfaction and good times for many years. Harlene enjoyed playing and watching all kinds of sporting activities, and she was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. She also loved puzzles, playing dominoes, and lake life, where she taught us to ski, fish and enjoy life.
As a family we sorrow, nevertheless by faith we celebrate, knowing she is reunited with our dad, and so many of her family members and friends. Church has been a cornerstone for her life and the ministries of Kennedale First Baptist Church and Granbury Baptist were dear to her heart.
She is survived by her three children, Lee (Beverly), Mike (Dallas), and Janice (Tom); grandchildren, Evan, Lauren (Dustin), Tyler, Nathan, Kristen, Morgan; and great-grandchildren, Madison, Scarlett, Bo, and Jack; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Harlene adored all of them.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Verlin; sisters, Norma and Joyce; brother, Donnie; and grandson, Aaron.
