FORT WORTH -- Jerry Cox, 92, passed away peacefully with his family at his side Wednesday, February 1, 2017, in Fort Worth.
Memorial service: 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook.

Jerry was born April 19, 1924, in San Marcos, and lived in a number of towns throughout Texas in his formative years. He served in the Navy in World War II and married Valorie Howard, on July 2, 1954. They were happily married for almost sixty years until Valorie’s passing in 2014. Jerry made a good living through several careers over the years from managing paint stores throughout Texas to selling dental supplies in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. After retirement, he and Valorie loved to travel and took many trips to Europe and made lasting friendships with fellow travelers. In between trips, Jerry made time for his true passion; music, and specifically jazz music. He played saxophone, clarinet and flute in multiple bands from his teen years until he was well into his 70s.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Valorie; father and mother, Gerald R. Sr. and Toressa King Cox.
Survivors: Children, Donna Pace and husband, Paul, of Arlington, Howard Cox and wife, Cynthia, of Fort Worth and Gina Pederson and husband, Brad, of Bedford; grandchildren, Amy Lindsey and husband, Alan, of Houston, Dustin Cox and wife, Alicia, of Arlington, Cassie Pace of Arlington and Blain Taylor of Bedford; and great-grandchildren, Katherine, Ava, Jackson and Benjamin.
