George Michael Aslinger, also known as “Ace”, passed away peacefully with his family on September 14, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 74.
George was born in Weatherford, Texas on February 12, 1950, to Glen and Vivian Aslinger. He grew up in Weatherford and White Settlement until his graduation from Brewer High School in 1969. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. After coming home, he worked for Greyhound for several years until he started his career in the aircraft industry eventually retiring from Vought Industries. George married the love of his life Donna Timms on August 28, 1986. He truly loved family and coaching his daughter from the bleachers and his grandsons on the field. His time coaching was a true passion for him that was fueled by his strong love of the game. One of his great joys was experiencing life through his grandsons’ eyes. He loved fishing, especially Lake Fork, which was his happy place. The Dallas Cowboys were a huge joy for him but also one of his greatest frustrations. George loved his country and his family. He made a true effort to make others feel loved daily.
George was preceded in death by his loving wife of 33 years, Donna Timms Aslinger; his parents, Glen Aslinger and Vivian Burns Aslinger; his sister, Sharon Slate and her husband, Jack Slate; his sister, Michelle Mon; and his brother, Bruce Aslinger.
George is survived by daughter, Dannette Thomas Brown and her husband, Greg Brown; and grandsons, Dillon Thomas, Denver Brown, Dustin Brown, and wife, Miranda Brown; sister, Nikki Aslinger Taylor; sister, Mackee Teague and husband, Dewey Teague; sister-in-law, Susan Aslinger, and son, Micheal Heath Aslinger; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Ace Aslinger will be held on Friday, September 27th at 2:00 pm at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook, Texas 76126. The family encourages you to come prepared with your favorite stories and memories of George that you can share with all in attendance. Casual attire per his request, preferably wearing yellow, his favorite color, or Dallas Cowboys attire.
