Donna Louise Carter (Gwyn), 80, passed away Friday, September 25, 2022, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Celebration of Life: 11:30 a.m., Friday, December 16, 2022, First Baptist Church of Colleyville, 5300 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, Texas 76034, with Pastor Dale Molden officiating. Graveside services: Immediately following the church service at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, Texas 76034.
She was born January 10, 1942, in Oregon to Roger and Martha Gwyn. Her father moved his family and logging business to Moses Lake, Washington. It was there, Donna met her husband, Larry Carter at a bowling alley and they were married October 18, 1960.
Her family moved to Fort Worth December 24,1966 and Larry began working at Gearhart Owen Industries. Donna became a stay-at-home mom, perfecting her seamstress skills for family clothing, Barbie clothes, costumes for the Little Miss Texas Pageant, and Tony Lama Boot Co.
In 1977 the family moved to Victoria, Texas where Larry was given his own Oil Tool Supply Warehouse for Gearhart Industries, with Donna helping to run the warehouse. In 1987, when the kids were grown, they sold the business and home and traveled the United States. In 1989 they moved home to Fort Worth, Texas and Larry once again was working for Gearhart in Cleburne. He passed away unexpectedly in June 1991 and Gearhart awarded Larry’s position to Donna, where she remained for ten years, until an accident in 2001 forced her to retire.
In 2005 Donna moved for the final time to live with her son, Jeff, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Martha Gwyn, husband, Larry; and first grandchild, Stephen Alan Carter.
Survivors: Daughter, Brenda Carter; daughter, Connie Barker and husband, Kenneth Barker; son, Jeffery Carter; grandchildren, Ty Carter, Sean Carter, Aaron Carter and Adam Carter; and siblings, Jerry Gwyn and wife, Marlene, Carol Eblen and Eddie Ross, Janice Brown and husband, Jerry, and Bill Gwyn and wife, Georgia; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Her family will miss her dearly. She was a beloved wife, mother, special “Granny” to her grandsons, and devoted sister to her many siblings and their families.
