Donald Lewis Smith, 73, passed away July 15, 2022 in Cleburne, Texas.
Whether he was known as “Moose” when he was younger or “Catfish Don” in the latter years, Donald always had a smile on his face that brought joy to those that met or knew him. He was born November 25, 1948, Thanksgiving Day, in Washington D.C.
Catfish Don moved to Cleburne with his father and siblings when he was 4 years old and had a life-changing surgical procedure that corrected a birth defect and extended his life. Donald loved roller skating, water skiing and fishing. He had dozens of rods, reels and lures that he often modified.
After graduating from Cleburne High School in 1970, Donald spent 45 years at Goodwill Industries working at various job functions. Since he was extremely mechanically inclined, Donald also worked various side jobs, including landscaping and repairing small engines.
Donald never let any obstacle stand in his way. He was very interested in world events and scientific advances.
Donald is survived by siblings, Doris May, Suzie Torres, Charla Reid, Gail England, and John Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
