David Brown, 77, passed away October 6, 2024, peacefully in his sleep at home. He was born on October 8, 1946, in Fort Worth, TX. He grew up in the Benbrook area and resided there until the time of his passing.
David graduated from Technical High School, Trimin-Fort Worth, and was a key member of their rifle team. After graduation he went to work at REMCo and attended UTA until enlisting in the US Army in 1969. David was a Dog Handler in Vietnam during his tour of duty. He continued his service at Fort Myer, Virginia working with the dogs until his Honorable Discharge in 1972. He was awarded The Army Commendation Medal for his service.
He was a highly regarded and respected machinist. He was very knowledgeable and was a teacher at heart, always willing and amiable to help and teach others. David was a mentor in many ways to a great number of people.
Most of David’s working life was spent at 500 Winscott Road in Benbrook where he weathered the ups and downs, the buy outs, and name changes of the company he worked for, REMCo, SIE, SIE Geosource, Computalog, Precision Wireline, and Weatherford. During his time as a machinist, he also worked for Raines Machine, Bailey Tool and Die, E&E Manufacturing, and for his friend Clayton Collins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry; and his parents, Horace and Leotte Brown.
David is survived by his wife, Suzanne Brown, and his son and daughter-In-law, Rusty, and Roxanne Brown.
Private inurnment will be held at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas later. A wake will be held in David’s honor at Cancun Mexican Restaurant and Seafood, 7419 Camp Bowie W Blvd, Fort Worth, Texas on November 2, 2024, at 4:00 p.m.
