Barbara, the only child of Lonzo and Edith Medlin, was born in Denton, Texas on June 12, 1938.  She spent her early years in the Roanoke community.

After her high school graduation in 1956 from Northwest High School, Barbara attended Brantley-Draughon Business College in Fort Worth, Texas.  While in business college, she attended a wedding of a classmate where she met Larry Langston, who had eyes for Barbara from the beginning.

In 1963 Barbara graduated from North Texas State University, now the University of North Texas, in Denton, with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology.  She and Larry married on March 31, 1963 and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where Larry worked at Sandia Corporation.  Later that year they loaded up the car and moved from Albuquerque to College Station, Texas so that Larry could pursue a doctorate at Texas A&M.

During these years at College Station Barbara enjoyed life as a young bride and was employed at the Veterinary Science Department and the state chemist lab.   In January 1967 Larry and Barbara moved to Lubbock, Texas for a few months.  Before they moved, they realized a new addition was on the way.  Their first daughter, Cindee, was born in September 1967. Shortly afterwards the family moved to Fort Worth, Texas.

Barbara spent her first few years as a mother dedicated to her family, entertaining friends, and enjoying family life.  In February 1974 Larry and Barbara were thrilled to add to their family as their second daughter, Carolyn, was born.  Barbara devoted her life to her family and found a deep and meaningful relationship with her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.

After her children grew up and left the house, Barbara became a substitute teacher for the Fort Worth ISD working primarily at the Alice Carlson campus.  As her daughters married and had children of their own, she embraced life as a grandmother hosting many Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.  As empty nesters, Barbara and Larry enjoyed traveling and finding adventure along the way. Barbara also dedicated many years serving her Lord.  Her faith guided her and shaped her to become the strong, devoted, selfless, caring, and compassionate woman we all know and love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonzo and Edith Medlin and her parents in-law, Edgar and Inez Langston.

Survivors: Husband, Larry Langston; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindee and Henrik Schmiediche, Carolyn and Tim Mathis; grandchildren Joshua Mathis, Amanda Schmiediche, Elizabeth Mathis and David Schmiediche and numerous cousins.
